If people who receive services from NEACL are to have a positive control over their lives, if they are to have self directed lives within the community, then those who are around the person, especially those who do the day to day work, need to have person centered thinking skills. Everyone involved in the person’s life needs to have a good knowledge and a skill base regarding person centered thinking. These are the values that lie beneath planning.
Person Centered Planning is a description of what is important to each person in everyday life and what others need to do to support them. We strive to support people to maintain a balance in their lives in the same way we do in ours. We do this by creating an action plan to support the person. The implementation of this action plan is the driving force to achieving the desired outcomes.
We believe that connections to people and places in the community for those we support will be achieved through the use of person centered plans.
